Stand For Something
Sometimes we get stuck, we get so stuck that we don’t know what we have been put onto this earth for. We feel bored or guilty for wanting a different life.
I’ve done it. My daughter had left home, I had a job that I didn’t enjoy and I had gained a lot of weight. My relationship with my partner was good but it seemed all so routine. My conversations with myself were all about having no passion, no purpose, and questioning how can I live a life that was exciting
When I hit rock bottom I was drinking too much alcohol, eating takeaway regularly and was sad all the time.
Hitting rock bottom though made me decide to start somewhere, so I chose to lose weight, then I chose to run, then I climbed a mountain, so on my 40th birthday I climbed that mountain and realised I did have a purpose. My purpose was to help others do the same. To find a reason to live with adventure and a bit of sparkle in their life. This has become my tagline now because it is so powerful.
Then I felt stuck again, how could I do this. With some research and talking to others I found out about coaching. This has given me such purpose and passion in my life. The learning helped me on my own personal growth journey to now know myself and in this I can help others know themselves too
A major ignition point for me though was when I met Vanessa Talbot, a Profile Building Alchemist who helps coaches boost their profile and positioning to reach a wider audience with greater impact. She is living the life of her dreams whilst reaching so many people through her business. She has adventure, excitement and fun in what she does. She lives on a farm, has kangaroos jumping around, horses, loves animals and connects with so many awesome people. This to me was a person I wanted to get to know more about. I decided to interview her for part of my assessments and she so wonderfully agreed.
What I learnt from Vanessa in that interview has been invaluable. It’s something that I think of every day. It was one thing in particular she said to me that resonated so much, although it was a little bit scary, it was what made sense. Made sense to my life and how I had not been ‘living’ for so long.
Stand for Something
I thought, yeah stand for something; I’ve hidden myself away for so long that I never actually let anyone know what I stand for. Now I stand for living a life of passion and purpose, excitement and fun, otherwise why are we here? It took me a while to get there though.
The bond I felt emerging with Vanessa encouraged me to do one of her courses on how to step into the spotlight. Again this was daunting as I have hidden myself away most of my life, not wanting to be the centre of attention, not attracting people to me due to my insecurities and not knowing what my passion was.
Through her guidance and understanding I found my true calling. Vanessa helped me verbalise who I am, an Adventure Coach who encourages other women to get out of their comfort zone to find true excitement and reason for living. To find their passion and purpose for life. To build relationships with people, connections that last.
Vanessa taught me this by easing my fear, teaching me how to be in the spotlight even as an introvert and love it. With Vanessa by my side I’ve been able to think bigger, become a true leader in this area and now I live a lifestyle I’ve always wanted.
To have a person like Vanessa in my life, who is a great mentor and friend has seen me bloom, I’m happy, I want new experiences, I have met the most magnificent people all over the world. I started a podcast and people are coming to me to be on it. I have been attracting people who are also living exciting lives, who have undergone transformation to have purpose and passion.
I recommend that if you want change in your life that a mentor is critical, also get coaching on what is holding you back and then stand for something. These were essential for me to turn my life around.
It ‘s been shown that when you stand for something life becomes clearer, exciting, adventurous and the fear that used to hold you back is something you acknowledge as trying to keep you safe but then jump into new experiences with open hands and heart.
As Vanessa says, ‘It’s your time to shine!’ and I have made this my mantra.
