Cosmo Hippy Seed Crackers
These crackers are fantastic for lunch or as a snack. Have them with cheese or dip, or on their own. You can flavour them by adding whatever you like to the base recipe. I like fresh herbs (a combination of parsley, sage and oregano), lemon zest and salt.
Makes a large sheet that you can cut into whichever size you like. Make them nut-free by only adding flaxseed meal, and not almond or LSA.

Baking tray lined with baking paper Mixing bowl
Make me up | |
Mix all the seeds in a bowl with a wooden spoon.
In a jug add the water and chosen flavourings if using.
Let stand for 5-10 minutes until the water has soaked into the mixture.
Line an oven tray with baking paper.
Tip the mixture onto the lined baking tray and press it out with the back of a spoon until you have one large sheet of cracker about 1cm thick.
Bake at 150°C for 50-60 minutes until the sheet is crispy.
Cut the cracker sheet into squares or rectangles of your desired size.
Flip the crackers over and bake for another 20-30 minutes until completely dried out and crispy.
Allow to cool. Store in an airtight container for up to 15 days.
Variations | |
• Really, if you have the ½ cup of chia and ½ cup LSA or almond meal, the other 1 ¾ cups of seeds can be anything and in any quantity. I’ve used poppy seeds and even pine nuts.
• Why not try blitzing the mix in a food processor? Just add 2 tablespoons of oil (either coconut or macadamia nut) to the wet mixture and blend the whole mixture together. Smear this sticky dough onto a damp piece of baking paper and bake the same way as the whole crackers. They are a pleasing and different cracker. Also great for kids if you are worried about them choking on the seeds.
Waste not! | |
Every time I make these, I end up with crumbs left over in the bottom of my cracker tin. But never throw them out! Instead, use them as tasty sprinkles in salads, soups or over simple grilled meats. |
