Acknowledge Your Defining Moments
Defining moments refer to that very instant that you realize your life will change forever. They are the epiphanies that shine a light on a specific purpose.
You spend your entire life doing the things that you want to do or need to do and at the bat of an eye, you realize your true purpose. It's a game-changing realization and the sweetest part of your life begins right then. How sweet it is until you ask yourself “now what?” What is next for you? How do you approach this new found vision? How does it fit into your life as you know it now? Finally, what if it doesn't fit at all?
I love this explanation of defining moments: “there's a sudden burst of clarity where there had previously been static.” That says it all. Defining moments are the occasions when it all becomes clear. It’s your ah ha moment when life begins to makes sense. Those defining moments give you clarity of thought and necessary actions that result in a heightened appreciation of self.
A moment ago you were overjoyed because you had this awesome revelation about what you were put on this earth to do. You were beaming with excitement and then bam, it hit you. What do you do now that you know? You embrace, revel and reflect in your new-found identity and don't let go of the joy you felt when you finally saw the light of your life. Hold on to it because the vision is all in the cards. The game is not over and you simply play the hand that you've been dealt. While you embrace the chance for change, just like the defining moments seemingly appeared out of nowhere, so will the plan.
Now that you've basked in the sun of purpose, did you happen to notice that the defining moments also gave you information that you need to move forward? Be open to accepting the challenge and imagine how that purpose plays out in your life. Slowly, decidedly and concisely the plan to achieve your purpose speaks to your very essence. The sound of success may be a roar or a whisper so listen carefully and don't shut it out. Soon you'll be reveling in a stream of defining moment one after the other. Sometimes the plan comes together quickly and yet other times, it's a process that takes place at a snail’s pace so patience is a requirement.
How Do You Approach This New-found Vision?
Change or the need for change often requires an adjustment of one's attitude. So consider that an attitude adjustment may need to accompany the defining moment. If so, don't fight it. Instead be open and willing to accept that as a step in the right direction. Consider it all a part of the process. If your attitude is not in alignment with the realization of the defining moment, then the defining moment becomes just a fleeting thought and a dream and purpose unrealized. The road will begin and end in an instant and you'll remain at ground zero.
Patience will be required to navigate each wave of your life's assignment (the purpose). Take it in stride and follow the flow. Acknowledgement, embrace, reflection, acceptance, patience and willingness…. that's how you approach this newfound clarification and you deal with it accordingly.
It's all up to you.
