It’s All Gravy
Some years back I was listening to a record, which featured the artists Romeo and Christina Milian. The title of the track was, “It’s all gravy”. I must confess that I did not fully understand the expression. Maybe when looking at the words, it may be linked to having a flow – as gravy does flow over your mash potatoes. I soon found out that it meant that everything was going to be fine; or the situation is cool.
Some years go by, and by this time I develop an interest in mindset and wellness. Is it not amazing how powerful your mind is? How some people are prone to react in certain ways? I’ve been living as well as been learning, how my viewpoint on a situation can have an impact on what is manifesting in my world.
There is a famous quote from Albert Einstein, which goes, “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again but expecting different results.” So this quote is saying that you need to change your practice in order to be getting different results.
This sounds pretty straightforward but as human beings, we are creatures of habit. Habitual behaviour can be something that is difficult to change. When making what appears to be a big change, it can be a shock to our system. Think now of practicing a new move at a gym, using muscles that you do not normally use. Sometimes when do certain movements in the gym involving muscles you may not have used before, then you may shiver . This is the body saying to you, “hey, what is going on here. I have not tried this before?” This spasm or shiver, will eventually cease.
I was reading that one way to get different results, is to change how you normally react. I think the person was suggesting, dismissing all the knowledge you had before. I found it extreme as it felt like you were meant to eradicate your whole personality. The premise was to get a different outlook.
I often find it difficult not to react a certain way when I am upset or angered about a situation. I mean getting emotional, and reacting straight away. But what if a better way of changing your normal reactions, or mind-set was to take a deep breath and say to yourself, “everything will be okay”.
It’s cool, just like gravy.
