Holiday Kick-Start

I was asked to do a radio interview this week about holiday body confidence, how we can change our mindsets to feel better about the way we look. We all know that it takes time to lose weight and make physical changes, but the great news is that you can start to create shifts in your mindset today. This got me thinking about how your holiday could be the perfect kick-start to feeling more confident and becoming the weight you want to be.

So, here are my three top tips for making your holiday a truly transformational experience:

Establish a New Positive Habit

Your holiday is a perfect opportunity to experiment with trying out a new habit. You have more time, you feel relaxed and hopefully have some good weather! So, think about what you would like to bring more of into your life. Maybe you can use your holiday to eat a greater range of healthier foods, start a daily meditation routine or begin to exercise more? You can do all of these things during your time away. Take this chance to establish one new positive habit and by the time you go home, it will have become part of your daily life.

Sun Lounger Hypnosis

You know how it feels when you are lying on a sun lounger, by the pool or looking out to sea, and you're in that dreamy state just on the edge of sleep? Well, that state is very similar to a hypnotic trance. When you are relaxed, your subconscious mind is much more open to suggestion and you can use this to achieve your goals.

So, when you are lying on your sun lounger, start to visualise yourself just the way you want to be. Make the image as detailed and vivid as you possibly can. Think about how you will feel when you reach your ideal weight, the clothes you will wear, how your body will be.

You can also use this time to say positive affirmations to yourself in your mind, such as ‘I am becoming the weight I want to be right now' or ‘I have all the resources within me to be exactly the way I want to be'.

By visualising your goal and saying your positive affirmations when you're in this dreamy, relaxed state, they will become embedded in your subconscious mind, just as they would in hypnosis!

Challenge Yourself

One of the best ways to feel more confident is to expand your comfort zone by doing something different. Your holiday is the ideal time to do this. You may have the opportunity to do an activity you've always wanted to try, like paragliding, wind-surfing or taking a trip in a helicopter. Maybe you could decide to learn a few words of the local language and start a conversation. Perhaps you could introduce yourself to a new person and find out something about them.

By challenging yourself to do something you wouldn't normally do, you will be stepping out of your comfort zone. Once you do this, you will feel amazing and your confidence will automatically grow.

So, why not use your holiday as a kick-start to reaching your goals?
