Eight Life Hacks to Happiness
These days everybody is trying to fit so much into their every waking moment. It appears some people cannot even walk down the street without having to check their mobile phone at the same time!
Trying to do so many things at once usually means we aren't doing any of them as well as we could and although our lives are busy we are not living to our full potential. We all need to take a few steps to ensure that are lives are busy with the correct things.
Wouldn't you rather spend some time doing things that would help you live to your full potential? Wouldn't you like to spend time achieving rather than just being busy? It's easy to be busy doing nothing.
Here are a few suggestions that you should be making sure you fit into your routine to help you meet your full potential.
Move
It doesn't matter what it is, but do something. It could be your yoga practice, it could be a walk in the park. It doesn't matter what it is. Too many of us spend the entire day in an office, return home to sit on the couch watching TV, or even worse, carry on working. Make sure that at so e point each day you move your body.
Don't worry about what other people think
There will always be people who think they can get ahead by putting other people down. Don't allow these people to affect you and what you want to be. People will tell you that you can't follow your dreams because they are afraid to follow their own. At the end of the day there is no point in being popular but not being able to live with yourself. Stay true to what you believe in
Connect
On their death bed no one wishes they had spent more time at work. They all wish that they had spent more time with family and friends. That they had stayed in touch with friends from the past, that they had smoothed over arguments and told people what they really felt. Do it now, don't wait until it's too late.
Take a step towards your dreams
It doesn't matter how small a step it is, it may only be a dipping in of the toes, but take a step each day. If you want to retrain then maybe your first step is just the research of finding out what you need to do but each day you don't do that is another day you haven't moved towards your dreams. Do something each day that takes you towards your dreams
Follow your dreams
There is no substitute for doing what you are passionate about. Too many people spend their working life doing something they hate.
There is a tale of a fisherman and an entrepreneur.
The fisherman went out fishing each day, caught a few fish which he sold at the market and then he spent the rest of his day sitting in the sun, chatting with his friends and spending time with his family.
The entrepreneur saw this and offered advice to the fisherman, ‘I can tell you how to catch a lot more fish and make more money.'
‘Why would I want to do that?' The fisherman asks.
‘With more money you could buy more boats and catch even more fish.'
‘What would I do then?' The fisherman asks.
‘Well' replies the entrepreneur, ‘ If you had a big enough fleet you could have a team of people fishing for you and then you wouldn't need to work.'
‘What would I do then?' Asks the fisherman
‘Well. You could sit in the sun, chat with your friends and spend time with your family.'
The realisation dawned on the entrepreneur as the fisherman adjusted his hat and relaxed back in his seat.
Too many people work at jobs they hate to save up the holiday to go away and do something they love for two weeks of the year. There is always a better way – look for it.
Look at your vision board
You don't have a vision board? You don't know what a vision board is?
A vision board is simply a piece of card that contains images that you have collected which depict where you want to be. These pictures are not of material goods. It's not a picture of the new car you want or a new house. The pictures should represent things like, freedom, independence, the sort of qualities that you are after. By looking at this each morning your life tends to move towards them.
Don't ask how it works but it does. It is the same as people who look at their bank balance each morning and manage to make the balance grow. Maybe they just become more aware of money and manage their finances better. Maybe the vision board works in the same way – when you are constantly aware of what qualities you are wanting, you see the opportunities to move towards them.
Express gratitude
End the day by writing down one thing that you are grateful for and putting that piece of paper into a pot or container. This gratitude jar collects your daily thanks and then allows you to replay them.
What a great way to end the year by looking over hundreds of reminders of the things you have to be grateful about!
Disconnect
Many people now have more virtual friends then real friends. You think you are connecting to people but actually you are just sending snippets off into the ether for other people to react to. People feel they have to be constantly checking email, Facebook, Twitter etc. For some people it is the last thing they do each night and the first thing they do each morning, before they have even got out of bed. Spend the night devoid of devices, don't even take them into the bedroom. Spend the hour before bedtime winding down, read a book, take a bath. Don't watch TV or any device. You'll be amazed at the difference it makes.
