Courage to Step Up: 5 Tips to Follow Your Passion
Some months ago I felt professionally lost and I asked the universe to help me to answer these two questions: “What would I do if I were a millionaire?”, “What would I do if I were going to die in 3 months?”
My hand was guided to write “I help women boost their self-esteem and happiness”, and I finally realized that I didn’t have to be a millionaire to live my current dream.
Here are the 5 things that helped me to change my career and jump into my inner calling and current passion. I think some of this will resonate with you too:
1. Let the universe help you and guide you: I call it “universe”, you might call it “god”, “terra matter”, or “universal energy”. Whatever you call it, trust there is a higher power helping you and supporting you when you make big changes in your life.
When I trusted that the universe was taking care of me while working really hard in this career change, I managed to just trust that everything would be fine.
2. Cover your ears because a lot of people might say you’re crazy; even people that love you: Don’t listen unless it is a constructive comment that will help you grow. What I’m telling you here is not easy, but so worth it so give it a try.
Sometimes people care too much about what others say when in reality what matters the most is what you tell yourself. This quote will help you on this:
“Stop letting people who do so little for you control so much of your mind, feelings & emotions”– Will Smith.
3. Face Fear: This can be very tricky since we tend to sabotage ourselves out of fear. But what do you do with it? This is what worked for me. I assigned a nickname to my fear and whenever it came upon me, I thanked it for its presence in this journey, took it as something else that sometimes comes naturally with change, and started replacing it with love.
The issue is not fear, the issue is how we react to it. When we react to fear with love, soon that love replaces our fear.
Another idea, write down what you are really scared of, usually it’s not that scary once you write it down.
4. Take Action: In order to follow our passion we need clear goals and to take action. I encourage you to take action every day toward your passion and specific goals.
In order to take action, I kept in mind all the women that I was going to be able to help. Having a clear meaning and thinking beyond myself into serving other women is what kept me moving (and what keeps me moving today).
At the same time, what I also did was to add all of the goals and actions into my calendar and push myself to execute them.
What would push you to take action every day? Can you attach deep meaning to your passion? Maybe that will keep you moving and taking action?
5. Be compassionate with yourself: Maybe you might not follow through with everything, and that’s fine. Please try not to punish or judge yourself about it. Every day is a new life, and we can start over every morning and try again.
What are the steps you have taken to follow a dream/passion? What is holding you back right now? I would love to hear your experiences.
Remember that everything you share might affect someone else’s life.
With much courage and love,
Carolina xo
