It is difficult to focus on anything when you are struggling each and every day just to get out of bed and get through your normal routine. And with so little energy to spare, who has got time for everything we have on our busy schedules?
A client of mine had been struggling with evening cravings and fatigue for a very long time.
During the day she indulged a little too freely in junk food but she also followed a pretty good work-out routine; but as soon as she’d hit the couch at night, she’d be overwhelmed by an incredible craving for chips, cookies and other unhealthy snacks and feel completely exhausted. Needless to say, her love life was suffering as well as her health!
I often deal with cravings and fatigue in my work as an orthomolecular nutritionist and I gave her the recipe for a quick and easy drink to provide a chia energy boost:
- 1 cup coconut water
- 1 Tbsp. chia seeds
- Juice of half a lime
- A splash of freshly squeezed juice (orange or apple is nice)
Soak the chia seeds in the coconut water for 15 minutes.
Add all ingredients to a blender and blend briefly.
My desperate friend promised she’d try out my chia concoction and when I talked to her again a couple of weeks later she gave me a big hug.
She’d been using this drink two times a day and not only were her cravings completely gone, she was bursting with energy and had already lost about 10 pounds.
As you can read here, Chia seeds are a true superfood which do not only help you manage your weight and energy levels, but also lower your blood pressure, are anti-inflammatory, anti-diabetic and protect against arthritis, autoimmune disease, and cancer.
When you have more energy, you are more magnetic and when you are more magnetic, you attract more good things to you!
