Breaking down barriers

 – and getting the most out of life

It's a familiar story. You wake up, go to work, come home, eat, sleep. Repeat. Over and over again you are bound to the tedious cycle of work and lifes other duties. You're stuck in the same old routine and hardly getting the results you want out of life.

Consider Dr Demartini's refreshing tips to help get you escape the rut that you're stuck in. Here, he challenges the way we typically think about our work, home and relationship processes; aligning it all back to his values system.

The world around us reflects the world within us' – Dr Demartini

1. Be motivated by doing what you love

Being trapped in a rut will stop you from doing what you truly love in life. Dr Demartini talks about aligning our occupation with our ‘highest value' . What you're doing everyday should motivate you to get up and pursue your day eagerly. Consider what your highest values are and what motivates you to achieve your goals. If your current job or relationship doesn't fulfill any of these, maybe re-evaluate and consider a change- even on a small scale.

2. Learn from your mistakes

Look at any mistakes that you've made in the past and let these motivate you to do better. Don't dwell or beat yourself up over past mistakes; however, looking at where you went wrong in the past, whether in a previous relationship, or at an unsuccessful job interview, can dictate how you can think and work more effectively in the future.

3. Set realistic goals – know where you're going.

Set goals that are SMART- specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and timely.

Rather than setting large, unrealistic goals, set yourself small ‘bitesize' goals that will allow you to reach your final destination in a more realistic manner- i.e. rather than trying to lose 10kg in a month, set a goal to cut out junk food and allow yourself more time to exercise throughout the week.

Rather than aspiring to meet ‘the one', get out, meet more people and increase your social network and form valuable relationships.

4. Look after yourself

This may sound obvious, but looking after yourself can be the single-handed most important factor in refreshing your mind and keeping you motivated. Eat small meals regularly, and keep active, even in the smallest way possible by walking to work or stretching your legs on your lunch break.
