Are All Juicers Made The Same?
Choosing a juicer is not as simple as it looks. All juicers can juice, but the actual process of getting the juice and the end result is always different. Different process means different working steps, different time needed for juicing, different fruits and vegetables and different juices.
So what are the options our there?
Currently the options available to you as a consumer are;
- Centrifugal Juicers; are probably the most common domestic juicer on the market and are a cost effective and simple way to start juicing. They effectively separate all the fibre away from the liquid within the plant. From a produce point of view they tend to use a lot of produce to make one cup of juice, having a significant amount of waste. The modern machines are also quite a chore to clean. Generally it takes a couple of minutes to do the juicing and twice as long to clean up.
- Cold / Slow Pressed Juicers; in the last few years there have been a number of different designs from various companies. Like the centrifugal juicer, they are effective when separating the fibre away from the liquid and also require a lot of fruit and veggies to produce one cup. The waste amount and clean up again are equally as painstaking as the centrifugal juicers.
- Blended Filtered; there are only very few machines available in the market with most being designed essentially as a soya making machine… The differences in efficiency and volume with the soya making machines/soup makers design are significant. Given what I now know about blending and juicing this is my preferred method.
Why you ask?
It’s because this method uses about a third of the produce compared to types 1 & 2 mentioned above, thus, saving serious amounts of money especially when using organic produce. Also this method delivers more of the fruit / vegetable to the cup, meaning the body has the opportunity to utilise all of the parts which make up the fruit / vegetable. And it saves time and effort with the cleaning time being significantly less than centrifugal and cold press/slow juicers.
So for me blended and filtered juicing is the way to go as it saves you time and money and with less pulp your nutrients stay where they should be – in your juice.

An important insight that Mark has experienced on his own journey is inspired by Buddha’s observations that “life is an illusion” and once you recognise the illusion and you part in in creating it that you can create the illusion the way you want it. Mark says the same applies with the taste buds in that “Your taste buds are an illusion to your health. Your taste buds love sweet, salty and fatty. Your cells on the other hand want nutrition.” Essentially you have this internal battle that rages on until you have your own personal insight about what food is and then and only then can you start to make a conscious shift that counts.
