6 Reasons to Get Family Fit

by Apr 18, 2013

Exercise is very important for all ages and if you start your children in a good exercise program at a young age, they will be less likely to sit with video games or spend lots of time in front of the T.V.
By encouraging exercise, you will give your children the best start you possibly can in life because exercise;

  1. Makes you feel good and raises self-esteem.
  2. Tones up your muscles.
  3. Increases bone density, which helps prevent osteoporosis, a condition that can affect women later in life.
  4. Increases lung strength and capacity.
  5. Increases your metabolic rate and that means your body will burn more calories within the same time period, (who doesn’t want that?)
  6. Increases blood flow, which helps eliminate toxins and take nutrients and oxygen round the body. This helps produce healthy skin and shiny hair.

Exercise is especially important round the time of puberty for children.

We are all born with fat cells, which I’m sure you know inflate and deflate depending on how much food you eat. During puberty for girls, this is the only time fat cells multiply.

This happens to form curves and turn girls into women. This is the time of vital importance for girls to exercise and eat healthy foods because, the more fat cells we have the easier it is for them to inflate.

For boys around puberty, their muscles are primed for building, so a good weight training program with some cardio (exercising till you are out of breath) and healthy eating education is great for them too as they can develop a fantastic physique to easily keep into adulthood.

If you exercise as a family it makes for great quality time.

It can be hard getting time for everything, we all have busy lifestyles with work and keeping the house, car and commitments but spending time all together as a family, doing some form of exercise builds wonderful relationships and fun memories for the children in years to come.

Things like climbing, cycling, swimming, running, weight training and exercise classes become habit for you and them.

Afterwards, you can go to the supermarket as a family and let the children pick out healthy foods to try and cook at home. Healthy recipes are easily found and its great fun for the kids to get involved in cooking.

These are the greatest gifts you can give to your children and they don’t cost the earth.

Start this today and see the massive difference it makes to your family in as little as a month.

Happy exercising!
