< Previousand the landscape has changed dramatically. Women now also enjoy being the bread- winner. They hold influential positions in our society and they "hunt" for themselves and their families. While this change is progress towards gender equality, women are not wired to behave like men. Thousands of years of conditioning can't be eradicated in a few decades. The good news is that, even though it is toughto change thousands of years of conditioning in decades, there are strategies women can useto get paid more, get more clients and run more profitable businesses. The following principles work. They are exactly the ones I use to aid women who want to establish their own profitable business without compromising their femininity. ast-forward thousands of years, FMen are seen as hunters while women as nurturers. Build a business focused on nurturing your clients heavily focused on referral strategies. Create an experience that your clients will never forget and remember to ask for recommendations, inviting your clients to share the experience and/or the results they are gettingfrom you. Embrace your nurturing nature1Train yourself to ask for what you want and demand higher fees in the same way you negotiate to reduce your monthly expenditure or find the best shopping deal. You already know how to sell yourself. Remember that by simply asking for what you truly want will make all the difference. For example my wife "fights" for the best deal, and at the same time, she is assertive while communicating her value and what she can do for her clients. Because of her assertiveness, she can grow her business and career without feeling unhappy and not valued. Ask! 2Find a successful woman who is getting paid and has the clients she wants, and ask her how she does it. You might find some useful strategies or beliefs you can adopt in your own life. For example, a great woman I respect is Oprah Winfrey. You can see her femininity and power at the same time. Study Oprah and her story and find howshe thinks and manages her businesses. Find a role model.3Women by nature are nurturers. Because of their giving attitude, they want to help whenever theycan and tend to over-commit themselves with clients that are not able to pay. Set firm boundaries up front and decide how much "charity" work you are going to do in advance.Once you reach your quota, you will feel better turning down clients that can't pay without feeling guilty for not taking them on. I have heard this concept first from my dear friend Jodee Pervor. She set her prices, and she decides how many people she can "help" for free (or lower fees) without burning out. In this way, she has time to spend with her family, friends and her business is thriving at the same time. Decide on your price list upfront and stick to it. 4I have shared with you principles and strategies that other women like yourself are using every day to grow thriving businesses without compromising their femininity. Decide which principleyou are going to adopt first and build your assertiveness muscle so that it becomes natural to getpaid what you want AND get the clients you love. ow it's your turn!NREBEL STYLE?By Ema Smith There's a rebel within all of us! Do you remember when you were a teenager? Did you conform to the fashion trends of that time or did you rebel? The definition of rebellion is the action or process of resisting authority, control or convention. We as humans, place so many rules on ourselves; leaving little room for living our lives openly and honestly. Style is an extension of ourselves; an expression of who we are; forming our identities. So why hide it! WHAT'S YOURs it an abstract ideal you seek or is it a defined place with measurable parameters? How will you know when you've reached it? How will you know when you are finally free, when you finally have the freedom you seek? If you don’t know who you are at your core, who you uniquely and authentically are as an individual how will you know when you feel free, when you have attained freedom? Can you ever feel true freedom without acknowledging, connecting with and knowing who you are at your core? Who you are quirks and all!! I don’t think freedom can be truly felt until we know who we authentically are and connect with that incredible person! Ie place so many boundaries around our personal style. WThis starts to impact on choices we make, our lifestyle and our confidence Rules like · I only wear black · I will only wear pants · I cannot wear a skirt above the knee · I only look good in oversized shirts!! I love to push boundaries and break rules (if no one gets hurt) I recommend you try patterns, wear a dress from time to time and try wearing clothes that are more structured. You will be surprised how many compliments you will receive. Rebel against your own constraints! Fashion is meant to be fun!! Play with it! Experiment with different textures and colours, who said you can’t wear red and pink together? Perfection is judged or ruled by those outside of us. Now that’s freedom. The expression of one’s self through the art of style. Break free of your shackles and allow yourself to have fun with fashion again. No one says it better than Gianni Versace: Fashion and style is all about rebellion. Look at the evolution of fashion. Time and time again we have redefined or reinvented fashion. Look at hemlines from floor length in 1900’s to minis in the 1960’s. Without rebellion and change we may well still be wearing garments like they did in the Stone Age? Where would we be without one of the most iconic and rebellious garments - denim jeans? Where would I be? Jeans are my number one staple in my wardrobe, so versatile. Blue Jeans were invented in 1873 by Jacob W Davis in partnership with Levi Strauss & Co. Levi’s is a formidable company, making denim jeans and still going strong after 164 years. Do you remember the image of rebel James Dean wearing a black leather shearling Jacket and jeans sitting on a motorcycle, set in black and white? What an incredibly powerful image, portraying a rebel. Who is your rebel icon? Who inspires your rebellious streak? Why not draw inspiration from them? Have you had a rebellious fashion moment? If you haven’t created one yet, then I strongly suggest you get out there and get it! iberate yourself. Maybe start with something small like · Wear statement earrings instead of studs · Let your hair down if you always wear it up · Try something new and bold like colour One of my favourite rebels is Iris Apfel, one of America’s fashion icons (who happen to be over 90 years old). Iris dances to her own tune and loves to over accessorize (the larger the better). Iris makes no apologies for her choice of style, says ‘When you don’t dress like everyone else, you don’t have to think like everyone else” Remember, Fashion is meant to be fun. Rebel against your own constraints and live a little. LHOMELESS AND HAPPYBy Megan Seamans I would have given you a blank stare for a minute and then gave you a cookie cutter answer like, “I want to have a fun, secure job, get married and have two babies.” I would not have told you, “I want to own my own business, sell all my stuff to travel the world having no home base, and live life not knowing where I will go tomorrow.” This story would be pretty boring if I actually picked the first option right? So here I am living homeless, getting ready to leave for a country that doesn’t even speak my native language. ive years ago if you asked me what I wanted to do with my life,FHOW TO BENext >
