My intuition was strong as a little girl, I always wore my emotions on my sleeve, and my creativity was what led me into designing my own business. The same is true for many female entrepreneurs. We allow the creative flow of a business to open up and then once the doors are opened we find our masculine energy. The masculine energy feels like the “right” path in business, or the path we are “supposed to” follow, but staying in the by Megan SeamansMegan Seamans is a Life Coach for women multi-passionate entrepreneurs. Both male and females embody different qualities of each energy, and creating a balance between the two makes life feel easy. 31SMART HEALTHY WOMEN MAGAZINEthey stop moving, and stop learning that they will fail at their business. So they sign up for all of the webclasses, learn every new strategy, quit their 40 hour work week to work 80 hours for themselves. This constant hustle leads to burnout, overwhelm, and information overload. There is a lack of space in our body and mind which creates restriction for expansion. Why do we need more of the feminine in our business? Feminine energy is more intuitive, inward, creative, allowing, while masculine energy is more active, outward, expansive, logical. Think the creative side balanced with the discipline side. Both sides sound wonderful, right? But you can see how the masculine energies can seem more practical for operating a business. What I see happening in female entrepreneurs is they get so caught up in learning all of the strategy, mapping out their day, staying in 24/7 hustle mode. They feel like if Because it opens up space for us to create new ideas, feel good, and have fun! The strategy and hustle route feels like it is the right thing to do. It can feel like everyone else is learning something you don’t know. But the truth about strategy is, it will only work if it feels good to you. That’s where the feminine comes in. When you can feel into your intuition, tap into what feels right, then you can cultivate more FUN in your business! WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MASCULINE AND FEMININE ENERGY? SMART HEALTHY WOMEN MAGAZINESo how do you tap into your feminine energy?GET BACK INTO YOUR BODYSo much of the masculine is in your mind, analyzing and creating logical solutions. But your mind likes to play tricks on you sometimes so it’s good to get out of your own head and into your body so you can feel into what is right for you. How does your mind play tricks? 95% of your mind operates on the subconscious. That means many of your decisions are being made on autopilot based off of your past instead of your present circumstances. So basically your fear voice steps up when it’s triggered and can talk you out of something really good. When you get back into your body you open up space to feel. It is so simple to do this, just move! Find some movement that feels good to you and takes your mind off of the go-go-go. Try a walk, dance around your room, a new group fitness class, simple stretching! And start to ask yourself how you really feel while you’re doing it. STILLNESSWhen you are still you open your mind up to allow hidden thoughts in. Sometimes we hide from our own thoughts because it feels hard or scary to face, and it’s in our own head so no one will really know you’re hiding. It also may feel scary to break from the hustle to be still. You feel like there is hardly time to get the to-do list done, who are you to sit around for a bit?! But stillness will open up new doors in your business, and create opportunity to find solutions. When your mind is too full +switched on, you have nospace to find new solutions. When you are still and open, you can allow them in. Feminine energy is all about allowing the new to come. How do you start stillness? You practice! Start small with 3-5 minutes, maybe put on some instrumental music or a guided meditation. Or maybe you sit with a simple question for openness like, “what do I need right now?” And see what comes in for you. GET CREATIVE Remember the creativity that started it all, the one that opened you up to diving into a business of your own? How beautiful and fun was that?! Often times we think creativity has to be drawing or painting or some traditional art, but that is far from it. Creativity is whatever outlet allows you to use your imagination. Creativity is important because it is one of those magical times we can be completely present and opens up space in our mind. The feminine loves to get creative, it opens up opportunity for growth in your business. The feminine is powerful, don’t let the flowing energy trick you in thinking that it is weakness or slacking on your work. You can truly expand in your life and business when you can open up more space in your mind. Your brain is not meant to overflow, give it a break, give yourself a break and your business will flourish. 34SMART HEALTHY WOMEN MAGAZINE“People don’t buy what you do; they buy why you do it. And what you do simply proves what you believe” -Simon Sinek35SMART HEALTHY WOMEN MAGAZINEHAVE I MADE IT YET?by Belinda AllsoppThe infancy stage, not brand new but 18 months in and well and truly a business and a growing business at that. I decided to take the leap of faith 10 months after having my first child. It was always something I longed to do and something I had tampered with and failed at once before. To have my own business, control my own time and be at my children’s disposal, because quite frankly the thought of leaving them scared me. When would I go back to work, how would I feed them? In retrospect, the timing was less than ideal. I had left a safe, forward thinking, reputable and lucrative conglomerate to make my own way with a 10 month old and one on the way (unknown to me at the time) when I quit my job at Macquarie Bank. I started a business, built a brand, established referral partners, was a full-time carer to my baby and pregnant to my second child all during a stale economy. On top of this the financial industry was going through regulatory changes with the industry body cracking down and pretty much winding back investment lending which made it very difficult to place clients. I think it ‘s important to document my entrepreneurial journey at this point... Belinda Allsopp (ex- Macquarie Bank) is an accredited Finance Broker and is a director of Verge Finance. She has accumulated over 11 years of banking and lending experience across credit, sales and senior manager roles. Belinda started her entrepreneurial journey after having her 1st child 2.5 years ago. Verge Finance was established to assist small businesses and property investors. Belinda is particularly passionate about women in business who need assistance with the cash flow during the start-up phase and also nurturing their personal financial goals as their business grows. When Belinda is not working she is spending time with her husband and two daughters 2.5 and 1 years old.36SMART HEALTHY WOMEN MAGAZINEPRESENCE Online community, networking events, building your brand. Brand and image mean you exist, presence doesn’t mean 9-5 (well it doesn’t in my world). PRIORITISE AND BE ORGANISEDNever have I been more multi-tasked and time management driven. I sit at the breakfast bar at 7:45, take away coffee in hand, both girls changed and fed and myself ready. Pre-children I would struggle to get myself at the door at this time working for an employer.
