These women were committing crimes to escape.Manuela finds violence of any form or manner as unacceptable and is committed to making a change to a behaviour that affects not only the victim but their family, friends, community and at society at large.CONTRIBUTORSChief Operating Officer at Friends with Dignity, Zoe Scharenguivel has spent 25 years at the helm of theme parks in Australia and around the world. Zoe connected with Manuela when she co-ordinated a fundraising luncheon in 2015 to raise money to donate to an organisation in support of domestic violence prevention, after lighting one too many candles in memory of friends and strangers who had lost their lives as a result of domestic violence.Zoe is committed to making a significant difference to families affected by domestic violence and the community in general.Julia McKenna is the Chief Financial Officer at Friends with Dignity. During high school, she was President of the Amnesty International Club, and a volunteer in Sydney’s Bush Fire Brigade after the massive fires of 1993. Whilst living overseas, she helped raise funds for St Jude India, a charity helping children suffering from cancer. Julia, a former investment banker, crossed paths with Manuela when she responded to a Facebook call-out by Manuela’s former charity to help co-ordinate a “sanctuary” for a domestic violence survivor leaving refuge. Julia vowed to focus her time and energy to putting an end to DV after the passing of her childhood friend and relative Allison Baden-Clay at the hands of her husband.Jan Hills is a respected leadership consultant; her company Head Heart + Brain works with leaders and organisations in the UK, Europe and Australia. She recently published Brain-savvy Woman (with her daughter Francesca). The book uses an understanding of science, mainly neuroscience to review myths about gender in the workplace and to provide practical guidance for women and men on how to be successful in their career.
