< PreviousWhile you may have heard of it, and you may even have tried it, I'm going to show you the simplest way to set it up and start using it to simplify the information in your life. What is it that provides flow, or blocks it, in what you do? If you are new to Evernote you will have just one Notebook. This is your default notebook, sort-of like your email Inbox. This is where every note is saved unless you choose otherwise. The first step is to rename that Notebook and call it “Inbox” or something similar. Then add new notebooks – these act like folders for all your notes that you want to group together. Examples, Business, Family, House, School, Project ABC. I usually create a notebook when I am planning a trip and put all booking info, dates, ideas for day trips etc in ONE location. The tool I use relentlessly and often recommend (to anyone and everyone) is an online app called Evernote. The answer is not rocket science at all; you just have to have the knowledge. deas for what to save in Evernote I have a Notebook for Recipes – when I'm visiting someone or reading magazines in a waiting room, I snap a photo of their recipes that I'd like to try and save them straight to Evernote. Then I have one place to look when searching for ideas when meal planning. Those flyers and business cards on your fridge or kitchen bench that you might need “one day” Measurements for rooms or windows to keep handy for shopping during that renovation. Not to mention photos of inspiration, details of websitesand stores you need to go hunting in.Your Wishlist – for when you see that handbag or book that you can't justify buying right now. Next time someone asks “what do you want for your birthday/Christmas?” you won't be lost for ideas. Business ideas – endless possibilities here!Articles you want to read later “when you have time” (also known as “one day”)Receipts for warranties, instruction booklets for appliances and gadgetsWhat other scraps of paper can you find lying around your home or office? IThe app is such a blank canvas when you get started, sometimes it's hard to know what to use it for. I still remember looking at my first blank note back in 2009 thinking, “hmm, what can I use this for?” These days I use it more for my business, but back then my first notes were recipes, exercise ideas, notes from a call with a financial planner, and holiday destination ideas. Here are some more ideas to get you started: IAll of your notes will synchronize automatically between devices. This is super handy for both information capture and then finding it again later. Taking note of an idea or inspiration as soon as you see it or think of it, means you won't forget it in the hustle of your busy life. Along with text notes you can snap a photo, record an audionote or even include a quick sketch. And then finding your notes later when you're on the go is easy too. The search is fantastic, even for text in images (such as a page from a magazine), So when you're at the supermarket and you didn't make a list of the ingredients in that new recipe, just bring it up in Evernote! Evernote (or similar products like OneNote) can be your digital filing cabinet, junk drawer, planning journal, study notebook, and inspiration board all in one place, that goes with you everywhere. It can clear the clutter of sticky notes and papers from your bench tops and help clear your mind. Just start simply and have fun with it. Your friends and loved ones will be wondering how you became so organised! nstall on your Phone and any other devices you useSAVE TIME DECLUTTERINGBy Anne Lise Hestness Do you often feel overwhelmed by clutter? Clutter in your home, car, wardrobe and your finances? It doesn't have to be that way. There are many easy ways to get rid of the clutter. If you aren't willing to spend hours and hours tidying, you don't have to. There are strategies that help you get organized one step at the time. Don't belive me? I have been using these strategies for 20 years. It makes life much easier and anyway, I don't have a lot of time to spare dealing with clutter. Are your ready for it? Here we go! nd still have less clutter...aHOW TOAfter a while you will have many fewer receipts. If you love computing, you can scan the receipts that connect the products with a warranty (and print them out if you should use the warranty). And then you don't have to keep them either. Do you often keep receipts for everything? Do you just put them in your wallet or purse and forget about them? Or keep them in the drawer in the kitchen? Make a habit of throwing away receipts you don't need. When you have eaten that salad, and you have paid the amount stated on the receipt, there is no reason for keeping it. Throw it away! The same goes for all other receipts. Unless there is a chance you will return the item, or there is a warranty on the product. Make a habit of throwing away receipts you find that you don't need to keep. RECEIPTSTOO FEWitems you never come round to fix, throw them away. You don't have to go throughall of you stuff in one go. Do it when you see it. And slowly you'll find that your house will be less filled with unnecessary things.Did you know that you can get clutter by having too few of something? Believe me. It's true! Take something as simple as a hair brush. If you usually keep one in the bathroom but you often need the brush in the hallway, in the bedroom and so on. You will take the brush with you around the house. And it will never be where you need it. And since there are no places for it in the bedroom and in the hallway, the brush will be sitting on a surface instead of lying in a drawer out of sight. This was just an example. Can you think of anything in your house that you should have more of, to keep the house more tidy? … to keep it tidy you have to get rid of a lot of stuff. To get rid of all unneeded stuff in one go can be quite overwhelming. Where to start? And how to choose? I guess that when you are looking for something in drawers and cabinets you find alot of stuff. If you find user manuals for products you no longer have, or brokenWe hear it all the time…It sneaks up on you. And suddenly! There it is! The clutter. It doesn't necessarily have to be things that you should have thrown away. But it can be. Most likely it's stuff that doesn't have its own space. Where does the clutter come from? This is so normal that we don't even think about it. But imagine that your drinking glasses didn't have their own space. Can you see it in you mind? There would be drinking glasses all over the place. The same goes for all other items you own. If your stuff doesn't have its own place it will take over both your house and your mind. Think of all the energy that we use everyday to looking for something you need, right then! With the right system, you will know exactly where to find the stuff you need, when you need it. And THAT is the main key to a tidy life, car, house. All items should have their own place. Most items in your life do. It is usual to keep drinking glasses in the kitchen cabinet above the sink. 1You can start with your keys. It you don't already have a dedicated spot for your keys, make one. It can be in a drawer, in a bowl in the hallway, in a cabinet for example. Make a habit of putting the keys there each time you have used them. The best place to keep them is a place you are passing each time you are going out or coming in. If it's too far away the keys will most likely end up everywhere else. HOW TO FINALLY BE CLUTTER-FREE? Now I will give you a task. Think about the things that lie around your house, car and so on the most. Why are they lying around? What are these things used for? Is there any place you can put these things that makes them nearer to the area where you need them? Found something? It should be easy to fix it. Maybe you also have too few? (as mentioned earlier in this article). The more you think about this, the more you will find things that can be moved, and the result will be less clutter. KEYS2TASKIt's soooo normal to have too many shoes in the hallway. And it can feel overwhelming to tidy up all the shoes every day. If you've got room for it, buy a shoe cabinet. Then it's easy to put away the shoes you use often. Make it a habit to put a pair of shoes into the cabinet when taking a pair out. It will not feel overwhelming and it's so quick to do. Shoes you don't use can often be put in a wardrobe or other such sensible place. It is also normal to keep too much clutter in your car. Some people have so much clutter in their cars, that it's dangerous. Even slightly heavy items such as shoes can become dangerous items if you have to brake suddenly at higher speeds. If you need to have stuff in your car, keep it in the boot. Have a box, with or without a lid, to keep it in. Then it's easy when you're going to clean your car, all items are in one box. When it comes to garbage in your car, make it a habit to put your garbage in the door compartment or toss it into a small plastic bag. When you get home take the garbage with you and throw it in the bin.A cluttered laundry room is often caused by too small a space. My only tip is to use the wall, if you have any space left. All items that can be brought away from the floor will give you more space, and then you'll have space to divide your laundry items into colors/washing temperatures. If you have a bigger cluttered laundry room, it's most likely because of the laundry lying on the floor or in one big pile. SHOES3CAR4LAUNDRY ROOM5I have found it very helpful to have squared plastic baskets on top of my washer/dryer where I sort the clothes by color. Have a special basket for handwashing only clothes. And one special basket for high temperature laundry. Using this way to sort the laundry, I can easily see what color I need to wash next. And since the clothes are already sorted (do that when you bring your laundry to the laundry room) it is really quick to put it in the machine. It takes a much longer time to sort it first than trying to figure out what to wash, from a big pile of clothes. And of course, items that do not belong in the laundry room need their own space. And now… we have come to the point that most people hate. Getting rid of stuff. I admit it, I do love to shop for clothes. And more clothes are added into the closet than taken out. At least that used to be the case. My daughter taught me a method that I now use. I put clothes that I know that I haven't used for a long time in a separate drawer or hanger. And if I one year later I still haven't used those items then I don't really need them (except for items I don't use so much because of its type, such as a long party gown). Another way to get more space in your wardrobe is to throw away any worn out item you find when are looking for something to wear. Or the items you never use because they are too wide, too tight, long, short or whatever.CLOTHES6Next >
