Starting Over
What does it really mean to start over?
To really scratch everything from the past – particularly the things that didn't turn out so well – and begin the day with a fresh slate?
Many people will tell you that this is impossible, that the past determines the future and that history will always repeat. For these people there is a fatedness, a resignation and a sadness that life cannot be changed and cannot be grasped for its full potential. Even for those people who are happy with their life, who feel blessed and grateful and trust in a blessed future are still operating under this paradigm of reality.
This is understandable after all, we wake up in the same bed every morning, look over at the same partner, get the same kids ready for school each morning. Life is an inevitable rush and it's not getting any easier nor is there any more time available to get done what must be done.
And yet, I contend that there is only one moment available to you – this one. And by the time you read this that one moment is already past history. So take the moment that you read these words and that is the moment that I mean.
With this moment you can make any decision about yourself and your situation. If you don't like it you can take this moment to change it. It only takes a decision on your part and the willingness to trust that at any moment any possibility can manifest for you.
Every cell in your body is constantly renewing itself and it's your internal programming that tells it to age. What if you changed that – could you?

We are products of our past, but we don't have to be prisoners of it.” – Rick Warren

It only takes a single moment to open your eyes, become aware, make any decision, fall in love, change course, eat that donut or decide not to, speak to that stranger, dance in the rain, in fact any action that you take can be decided in the blink of an eye.
If you close your eyes and imagine stretching out in front of you a dozen or more different paths that you could take from this moment forward, I'll bet you can come up with that many different ways to make a new choice in addition to the one you believe is predetermined.
Take a piece of paper and write down 12 different actions or scenarios you could imagine arising from this present moment – become accustomed to thinking about the possibilities rather than the inevitabilities and watch your life change!
