In my lifetime I have had a lot of inspiring people to influence me in my career and in life in general. I can say from day one, my mother is one of the most inspiring and most influential to me. She is the strongest, most genuine, hardworking, real person I have ever met. If she was presented with a challenge, she would attack it with gusto. She never backed down from a challenge and never gave up. This was in her business life as well as her personal. She worked hard for everything she has and she has taught me to do the same. These morals and principals have carried over to me and I use them daily in my career as well as my home life.
Along with her, there were several role models I strived to be like while pursuing my career/ personal goals. One was a firefighter whom at the time had a husband that was dealing with brain cancer. She showed me what it was like to be a female in a man’s world and how to overcome some of the obstacles of testing and training for the fire department in general and how to use certain body mechanics as a female to tackle these obstacles. Fortunately, at the time, I was working in physical therapy as a technician and was able to help her with her husband with some stretches/ exercises I thought would be beneficial to him post brain surgery. She, along with a few other female firefighters, helped me pursue my goal of becoming a firefighter and how not to give up and always believe in myself despite some the hardships the job and or the training might present with.
In my personal life, I have met many incredible women who have influenced me and have helped me with some challenges I was dealing with as a new mom, career woman, and business owner. I reached out to local women that were running their own business with help on marketing, sales, and time management. I have met some very successful women who have helped me with ideas for my website, as well as marketing strategies for social media.
For the most part, my family and friends have been there for me through my process of transitioning into my career as a a firefighter, to owning and running a business, and now being a mother of two while trying to be successful in my career, in my business, as a mother , and also a wife . I try to manage my time appropriately and obviously want to give one hundred percent to everything I do without taking away from one of my responsibilities and spending too much time with another one. This can obviously get overwhelming at times and when that happens I reach out to those that have always been supportive, being my husband, mother, friends and also coworkers. They tell me to take a step back, take a deep breath, and realize all the great things I have accomplished and realize where I have come from to where I am now.
I am so grateful for everything I have in my life but can honestly say I would not be where I am without hard work, determination, overcoming obstacles, persistence, and also without all of those that have inspired me along the way to pursue any and all goals I have ever set for myself in both my professional, and personal life.
